Diagnostic tests can be done in a variety of settings to help guide therapeutic decisions. However, no test is foolproof. This lecture covers issues such as proper sample collection, interfering substances, and other issues that can impact these assays.

  • List potential issues with cross-reactivity.

Dr. Moore received his bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth and his Ph.D. in microbiology from the University of New Hampshire. He has eight U.S. and 39 non-U.S. patents alongside numerous publications and presentations, such as the CLSI’s Point-of-Care Testing for Infectious Diseases, 1st Edition. He has sat on medical committees, such as the point-of-care groups for the College of American Pathology and the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute. Currently, he is the Global Director of Scientific Affairs for the Rapid Diagnostic division of Abbott Laboratories. He received the Volwiler Fellowship Award for lifetime achievement in science in 2019.
