Join the last Whitehat Communications POCT webinar of 2024 where Kathleen David, MT(ASCP) will discuss Setting Up a Free-Standing ED/Urgent Care Lab. Jeanne Mumford, BS, MT(ASCP) of the KEYPOCC Group will host the webinar on Thursday, December 5, 2024 from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM ET.
Webinar Overview
Free-standing sites offering both urgent care (UC) and emergency department (ED) level care are opening all over the country, helping to mitigate wait times at hospital EDs and increasing options for patients. This session will discuss the considerations for performing point of care testing (POCT) at these sites, including test menu, device selection, regulatory issues, and ongoing support. The session is based on Kathleen’s experiences setting up four separate freestanding ED/UC sites. Kathleen will use real life examples of decision-making for test menu, device selection, staffing, and lab processes, including send-out tests that cannot be performed at point of care. She will discuss issues that arose and how she and her team resolved them.
